The 14Th Annual Dallas Black Film  Festival 2017/ August 11th,12th & 13th   


 Keep in step with the "THEME" (Politics In Film)Saturday August 12th start's off with "THE CHILDREN FILM  FESTIVAL "10am -1:30pm  is a festival especially designed for children which will include ,Movies(film's),Games , Film art & craft workshop children create their on film relics,some movement exercise's, a  special tribute  to Mr. Bill Cosby for his work with children..some of the Independent filmmaker's featured will be Louie Mcclain  'BRICK by BRICK, G's Read by Trestan Howard,Character Animator by Quinton Banks,excerpt's  from the children musical "BLACK LONDON " and various other's.

1:45pm til  6pm is  The Black Liberation Film Festival : this portion of the festival takes a look at various thought provoking and awareness raising film's that take a look at the "BLACK " Experience and the ongoing fight for liberation ,justice and human equality .some of the Independent  film maker's work you will see include  Dorothy Lucey, Robert Gray, Shaiking Mathis, (the late) Sam Greenlee, and various other's..

6: 20pm til 11:30pm pm The general Film Festival featuring Independent filmmaker's will run along with those who have chose to participate in various film making categories (for contest's) the winner's of each contest will be announced by 11:45pm .. some of the filmmaker's work you will see doing this period include: Marcellus Cox "Rolling in The Deep", Louie McClain  "Brick by Brick", "Return to Sender "by Tammy Thomas, "Born With a Silver Spoon" by Paul Smith ,"Pull your pants up if you want to be severed" by  Tanessa Kassa , and many other's ,short's ,documentaries ,and feature film's will be shown during this time.

Sunday Black Classic cinema and Black foreign Film's will be spot lighted

 


 

Friday August 11th 8pm - 12am will include excerpts from various film's with political context along with an audience discussion and Q & A ,plus poetry spoken word  ,music ,and 

conservation..
