Mission Statement

DALLAS BLACK FILM FESTIVAL is an independent film organization dedicated to the preservation of Black  independent film maker's 
(1) To serve as a conduit for on location filming in  Dallas for production companies, filmmakers, and the communities that may be impacted.

(2) To preserve and promote African American & African Diaspora Cinema. Established in 2003 and held each year in late Spring or Summer the Dallas  Black Film Festival has grown to become one of the longest running independent  black film festivals in the country.

our focus is African American & African Diaspora Cinema.�  films each year include : Comedy, Drama, Documentaries, Animation, , Horror, Religious, Foreign/African Diaspora, Shorts, Feature Films and music videos.

As the first totally independent Black  film festival of the year in Dallas , numerous other film festival's  scout new films from us for their event. , each year the Dallas  Black Film Festival will premiere a large percentage of the independent films that will prove successful throughout the year at other film festivals.
Our goal is to be the leader in facilitating the viewing  of film in the area. In addition, our goal is to continue to be a world class  film festival, and leader in the area of African American & African Diaspora cinema...

This is the longest running event of its its kind in the southwest, and it offers something for the entire family depending on which day you come. Attention: The 13th Annual Dallas Black Film Festival 2015 will have as its theme for this year - "Black Music in Film." We will focus on films that use black music to define the Black experience inside the Americas. There will be a special Q & A discussion on the subject matter. There will also be a special music video contest. There will be an Independent Film Contest for best feature film and best short film; a Movie Trivia Contest; a Children's Film Festival; a Classic Black cinema featuring films from the 1920's,30's,40's; Black foreign film showings; a Black Cinema Poster Show Case, and much much more! FRIDAY- 8-11-2017 8pm -12am  (film collage of Black film in music and its importance ) afterwards a discussion and Q & A segment /plus a live performance. SATURDAY 8-12-2017 a full day of film and music performances 9:30am til .12:30pm Children film festival (featuring film relative to children and live music ) film done by independent film maker's with children in mind. 1:00pm til 5:00pm liberation cinema begins ,however at 3pm the band  will perform some cinema soundtrack music,345pm liberation cinema resumes with Independent black films  with social theme's.5:30PM END OF LIBERATION FILM FEST,6 PM Independent  film's shown you can't get on Netflix or anywhere else.8pm live performance BY  8:30pm Independent film fest continues along with Independent  film contest's. featuring new Independent Film's by TAMMY THOMAS (film maker) ,PAUL SMITH aka (Paul Ittian)  and some surprise's.
